Energy community

Since 2007 Kötschach-Mauthen is well know as an energy autarchic (energy independent) model community also beyond theCarinthian border. In this year mayor Walter Hartlieb gives a lecture on ecological energy concept of the community at the "Open Days" of the European Union in Brüssel. Beside the foundation of the association "energie:autarkKötschachMauthen" the community hasalso joined the Klimabündnis and the e5-programme for energy efficient communes.

Until 2020 Kötschach-Mauthen wants to reach the 100% energy autarchy. In 2006 the working platform "energie:autark Kötschach-Mauthen" was founded to supervise and publicise renewable energy topics in Kötschach-Mauthen. In May 2008 an association with the same name was founded to intensify the work in this topic. One of the main functions of the association is awareness raising, supervising projects and the organisation of the energy experience "Energie-Erlebnis Kötschach-Mauthen".
We want to move on this right path of renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate protection.
